Phil and Lisa are both on the leadership at Renovate Life Church and the whole congregation was thrilled when Amy Grace arrived on Wednesday 22nd December, weighing 6lb 12oz. Amy attends every week with her mummy and daddy and loves all the attention she gets off everybody!
Amy is almost 6 months old now and so Phil and Lisa asked our Pastor if she could be dedicated.
What is a Dedication service?
A dedication service is very much like a christening but without baptizing the child with water. During the service the child will be prayed for by the minister and blessed. Godparents will also be charged with the responsibility of helping the parents bring up the child to love and know God.
A child is not baptized in water during a dedication service in accordance with what the Bible teaches. Throughout the New Testament only men and women who were of an age to accept Jesus as their Lord and Saviour were baptized. The Bible says in Acts 2 verse 38: ‘Repent and be baptized…’
As Amy is not of an age to repent of her sins and profess a belief in God, Phil and Lisa feel that it is only fair Amy has the choice later in life to get baptized when she fully understands the decision she is making. Phil and Lisa have both been baptized as adults and will encourage Amy to do so when she is old enough. We hope you will enjoy the service!
Dedication is on Sunday 26th June
Time: 10.30am
Where: Renovate Life Church
A buffet will follow after the service.
Sharing our daughter’s dedication with us is amazing enough but if you would like to get Amy Grace a gift we would greatly appreciate money as we are hoping to buy her some outdoor play equipment. Thank you!
